“I'm glad I don't have to make a living farming. Too much hard work. Too many variables you don't have control over, like, is it going to rain? All I can say is, god bless the real farmers out there.” Professional golfer and back nine philosopher - Fuzzy Zoeller.
Spoken like a golfer who grew up in the midst of the corn fields of Indiana, because those are Fuzzy’s roots. National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) is big on advocating for some of the most significant resources and critical assets in our nation too. Things like clean air, fertile soil and the family farmers who tend it every day. And today seems a good time to give them a shout out because it’s National Ag Day.
To help make people aware of the importance of agriculture to their lives, we wanted to share this fun interactive quiz put together by the Nature Conservancy. Can you get all 10 right?
Frankly, it’s easy to take agriculture for granted and for farmers to take their customers for granted. Ag Day is one way to close the gap and promote conversations about farmer’s challenges and contributions and consumer’s needs.
The National Ag Day program encourages every American to:
- Understand how food and fiber products are produced.
- Appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products.
- Value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy.
- Acknowledge and consider career opportunities in the agriculture, food and fiber industry.
