NCYC LogoJune 25: The new and improved online entry option for the National Corn Growers Association National Corn Yield Contest proved increasingly popular during the early registration period, with overall use increasing 20 percent since its launch last year.   At the conclusion of the early entry option on Friday, June 15, more than 1,000 contestants chose to submit their NCYC registration forms using the web-based system.

“Growers who decide to try out the online entry option are increasingly finding how simple and easy it can make contest registration,” said Production and Stewardship Action Team Chair Dean Taylor. “Farmers have long placed a high value on technologies that streamline processes, saving both time and extraneous effort.  Offering both benefits, online entry makes joining this vibrant, popular contest simple.”

The new software, which was launched earlier this year, allows growers to enter the contest and join NCGA and their state association. The web-based system simplifies data submission, allows users to view their submissions at any time and will allow for quick, efficient use of contest data.

Seed representatives and entrants are welcome to enter through this new platform. Current members should have their NCGA membership identification number ready. Non-members wishing to participate can quickly fill out the online membership profile and enter immediately following completion of this form. Registration will remain open until July 16 at the full $110 rate.

For nearly a half century, NCGA’s National Corn Yield Contest has provided corn growers the opportunity to compete with their colleagues to grow the most corn per acre, helping feed and fuel the world. This has given participants not only the recognition they deserve, but also the opportunity to learn from their peers.

Winners receive national recognition in publications such as the NCYC Corn Yield Guide, as well as cash trips or other awards from participating sponsoring seed, chemical and crop protection companies. In Kissimmee, Fla., during the 2013 Commodity Classic, state winners will be recognized during the NCYC Breakfast and national winners will receive awards at the NCGA Awards Banquet.
