LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

Launched in 2019, the Leadership Academy replaces the traditional Leadership At Its Best program which has become NCGA’s advanced leadership program.

 

Leadership Academy is a two-session program that prepares state corn leaders to lead their respective state grower associations and check-off boards.  The program will focus on various aspects of leadership training and key agricultural issues in a world with ever-changing consumer and environmental concerns. Growers will gain a keener insight into association management and how different leadership styles can come together in building an efficient organization. Media training and effective advocacy communications play a key role in this program as our grower leaders take a more active role as spokespersons for their state and national corn organizations.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

 

States are encouraged to submit two individuals – their grower association vice-president/president and/or their checkoff chair/vice-chair, or other leaders at their discretion.  Applicants should not have already participated in Leadership Academy or Syngenta’s Leadership At Its Best program for another ag or commodity group.

 

SCHEDULE AND COURSE OUTLINE

 

Session 1: St. Louis, MO – August 5-9, 2019

Course of study: Public speaking and presentation skills, transformational leadership, meeting facilitation, communication styles and media training

 

Session 2: Washington, DC – January 27-29, 2020

Course of study: Legislative briefing, parliamentary procedure, working with Hill staff and lobbyists, individual meetings with your members of Congress
