Resolution/Position:

  1. NCGA, in conjunction with member states, shall implement a comprehensive program to educate potential users of corn and its co-products as a livestock/poultry feed.
  2. Farm Animal Welfare
    1. Assure the public, through education, that American animal agriculture is humane.
    2. Support responsible livestock/poultry production and oppose restrictive legislation. Recognize the importance of proper animal care, rather than animal rights.
    3. Support educational efforts that enhance consumer understanding of the economic value of responsible livestock/poultry producers to rural communities.
  3. Encourage livestock/poultry producers to give priority to maintaining high quality water, soil, air and vegetation as they locate new production facilities or enhance current structures.
  4. Support grazing as a part of the multiple use of federal lands.
  5. Urge the Federal and state governments, when determining siteing requirements for CAFOs, to establish reverse seperation distances between CAFOs, homes and businesses.
  6. NCGA support a national effort to develop systems to address environmental concerns related to CAFOs.
