Resolution/Position:
- NCGA, in conjunction with member states, shall implement a comprehensive program to educate
potential users of corn and its co-products as a livestock/poultry feed.
- Farm Animal Welfare
- Assure the public, through education, that American animal agriculture is humane.
- Support responsible livestock/poultry production and oppose restrictive legislation. Recognize the
importance of proper animal care, rather than animal rights.
- Support educational efforts that enhance consumer understanding of the economic value of
responsible livestock/poultry producers to rural communities.
- Encourage livestock/poultry producers to give priority to maintaining high quality water, soil, air and
vegetation as they locate new production facilities or enhance current structures.
- Support grazing as a part of the multiple use of federal lands.
- Urge the Federal and state governments, when determining siteing requirements for CAFOs, to
establish reverse seperation distances between CAFOs, homes and businesses.
- NCGA support a national effort to develop systems to address environmental concerns related to
CAFOs.
