January 26, 2005: Countdown
to Classic – 25 Days Until Commodity Classic
Farmers
Expand Their Potential at Commodity Classic
ST. LOUIS (January 26, 2005) -- From global positioning
systems to computerized yield monitors to specialized biotech seed traits,
modern technology has revolutionized farming., Corn and soybean farmers
from across the country will have an exciting opportunity to see the
newest cutting-edge advances in technology at Commodity Classic, Feb.
24-26, in Austin, Texas. Commodity Classic is the annual convention
and trade show presented by the American Soybean Association (ASA) and
National Corn Growers Association (NCGA).
This year’s trade show features more than 700
booths highlighting a wide variety of new equipment, products and services
that are important to farmers.
“The trade show is shaping up to be one of the
biggest and best ever,” said NCGA President Leon Corzine. “Growers
will see top-notch exhibits featuring the best corn and soybean industry
businesses, as well as forward-looking companies from sectors outside
of agriculture. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the latest and
greatest technology and talk to representatives from some of the most
progressive companies in the world.”
ASA President Neal Bredehoeft reminded growers that
Commodity Classic is about more than the newest technology. Farmers
will also have the opportunity to participate in seminars about production,
marketing, management and today’s hottest agriculture issues.
Bredehoeft said, “This year’s Commodity
Classic provides an outstanding combination of education sessions, issues
updates and industry interaction, all designed to help growers expand
their opportunities for growth and profitability.”
Noted ag commentator John Phipps, an audience favorite,
will once again moderate the Commodity Classic General Session panel,
which includes Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore; agriculture biotechnology
expert Sano Shimoda; and Lynn Jensen, U.S. Department of Agriculture’s
rural development director for South Dakota. The panel will discuss,
“Growing America’s Future.” To complete the General
Session, motivational speaker and Olympic skier Vince Poscente will
provide an energetic keynote address that includes a series of proven
performance strategies that growers can incorporate into their own operation.
Another highlight of Commodity Classic will be the “Evening
of Entertainment” featuring the well-known, and award-winning,
country music group Restless Heart. In the late 80s and early 90s, the
group had numerous hits on the country charts and crossover success
on adult contemporary radio.
