After the Energy
Policy Act of 2005
Forums to Focus
on Net Energy Balance of Ethanol and Implications of Future Renewable Energy
Research
With the ink barely
dry on America’s new 10-year, $12.3 billion energy policy and oil north
of $60 a barrel, renewable fuels -- such as ethanol -- are immediately poised
to help solve our nation’s energy problems. But questions linger on
the net energy balance of ethanol production, and what enhancements future
research might deliver to further maximize renewable fuels’ energy
recovery.
The National Corn Growers
Association has assembled two consecutive forums to present media representatives
an overview of net energy balance research and an update on renewable energy
research, and an opportunity to question some of the nation’s top experts
in renewable fuels.

WHEN: |
The
Net Energy Balance of Ethanol: Point/Counterpoint”
10 – 11 a.m.
EDT, Tuesday, August 23, 2005
Critics of the 7.5-billion-gallon
renewable fuels provision contained in the Energy Policy Act of 2005 continue
to question the domestic fuel’s energy efficiency. Four panelists
discuss opposing findings on the net energy balance of ethanol.
“Renewable
Energy: Dynamic Possibilities”
Noon –
3 p.m., EDT, Tuesday, August 23, 2005; 11:30 a.m. Buffet lunch
An overview of research
from USDA, Argonne Labs, DOE renewable programs as well as presentations
on how agriculture is becoming more efficient to meet future energy challenges
and how new enzyme technology is make renewable fuel production more energy
efficient.
