Corn, Soybean Growers to Tap Their Toes Beat of Restless Heart at Commodity
Classic
ST. LOUIS (September
30, 2004) -- Corn and soybean growers are just a heartbeat away from
experiencing one of the nation’s most entertaining
country music bands. Restless Heart will be the featured entertainment
for the 2005 Commodity Classic, the combined convention and trade show
of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) and American Soybean
Association (ASA), Feb. 24-26 in Austin, Texas. The band will perform
at the “Evening of Entertainment,” sponsored by Monsanto,
Feb. 26.
Formed in Nashville,
Tenn., in 1984, Restless Heart was one of the premier country acts
of the
late 1980s and early ‘90s, notching
numerous hits on the country charts and achieving cross-over success
on adult contemporary radio. The band has earned four gold records,
was named 1989's Top Vocal Group by the American Country Music Association
and had 15 Top 10 hits.
“Being in Restless Heart showed me how powerful music can be,” said
Larry Stewart, the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist. “I
always knew how much it moved me – and I saw it did the same
thing to other people. To me, you need to sing songs for more than
yourself. Making records is a privilege. I think you need to find songs
that might give people a little insight into their own lives.”
The group first
achieved stardom with its 1986 album “Wheels,” which
topped the country charts and produced four No. 1 singles. The group’s
1988 album “Big Dreams in a Small Town” was a successful
follow-up, offering the band’s most well-known hit, “The
Bluest Eyes in Texas.”
Restless Heart made three more albums before officially disbanding
in 1996. When the group dissolved due to personal differences, a reunion
seemed unlikely. But now, playing together for the first time in nearly
a decade, the five original members of Restless Heart are back on tour.
The group recently
released a new single, “Feel My Way to You,” and
is planning a November release for its new album.
