ST.
LOUIS (September 25, 2001) -- Every year, quality entertainment is a
key feature of the Commodity Classic, the combined convention and trade
show of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) and the American
Soybean Association (ASA) - and 2002 will be no exception. Nashville
recording star Louise Mandrell will headline the evening of entertainment
at the 2002 Commodity Classic on Feb. 23 in Nashville. Commodity Classic
will run Feb. 21-23.
Mandrell's talent,
personality and boundless energy have won her a legion of fans, unparalleled
reviews, hit records, a best-selling book, numerous commercial endorsements,
her own nationally syndicated television special and a spectacular stage
show.
The namesake of
the Louise Mandrell Theater, which opened in 1997 in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.,
Mandrell leaped into the national spotlight in the fall of 1980 as one
of the talented siblings on the NBC television show, "Barbara Mandrell
and the Mandrell Sisters."
Louise's ability
to relate to and reach her audience is one of her greatest attributes.
When Louise walks on a stage, she literally owns it! She combines bluegrass
traditions with pure country harmonies, while she incorporates Broadway-perfect
dance steps with an unsurpassed fluency on several musical instruments
for one of the most energetic and entertaining shows anywhere. She has
dazzled and electrified audiences from the main showrooms of Las Vegas,
to the heartlands of the Bible Belt.
Riders in the
Sky
Get ready for some
down home cowboy-style music when Louise Mandrell's opening act, Grammy
Award-winning Riders in the Sky take the stage. For nearly 23 years,
Riders in the Sky have been making music the cowboy way - that is, creating
harmony-laden music that paints a vivid portrait of the characters and
culture of the West. Their readily identifiable style was a perfect
fit for Disney's "Toy Story 2." Riders in the Sky members Ranger Doug,
Too Slim, Woody Paula and recently added sidekick, Joey the Cowpolka
King, are known for keeping the tradition of the singing cowboy alive.
Every year, Commodity
Classic draws the nation's top corn and soybean producers for three
days of educational sessions and seminars as well as a huge trade show
featuring the latest in equipment, products and technology.
More information
about Commodity Classic is available at www.commodityclassic.com. Registration
materials will be mailed to all NCGA and ASA members and will be posted
on the web site in mid-October.
