Swashbuckling Fun for All at NCGA’s CornPAC Auction in Tampa (3-6-07)
Pirates and growers invaded in record numbers last week at the swashbuckling National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) CornPAC event in Tampa, Florida.
CornPAC President Jim Reed could not be more thrilled about the pirate-themed event and the future of the corn industry.
“We were very excited with the support from growers and partners for our CornPAC auction,” said Reed. “Fun events such as this allow us to have a good time and raise funds for our grower led PAC. Growers’ awareness and commitment to our PAC was reflected in the great success of our event.”
Reed said the CornPAC is run by growers for growers and that NCGA’s grassroots is the strength behind the organization’s bids for beneficial policies and programs for producers. The PAC supports Congressional candidates who have proven records in support of NCGA policies.
Attendees had a treasure chest of goodies for the taking. Some of the live auction items included travel vouchers; a seafood basket; hand-made Amish quilt; a set of King Cobra golf irons including a GAP and Pitching Wedge; John Deere battery-powered ride-on Gator: a Franchi Titanium Alcione 20 gage Over/Under Shotgun; flex fuel vehicle converter; General Motors $5000 voucher for a flex fuel vehicle; duck hunting package for two; Gateway laptop computer; a diamond “Journey” necklace; and a framed print of the NCGA 50th anniversary quilt.
