CUTC Early Registration Deadline is March 31, NCGA Notes (3-29-06)

The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) is encouraging growers to beat the early registration deadline of March 31 and sign up for the 2006 Corn Utilization & Technology Conference (CUTC) in Dallas, June 5-7. CUTC, sponsored by NCGA, is the premier technology conference on corn products.

Anyone wanting to attend CUTC can sign up online at www.corntechconf.org. NCGA and U.S. Grains Council members save $50 when they register early. Nonmembers and students also receive discounts. All registrants will receive a "made from corn" travel mug. More than 125 people have already registered for the event, and Dr. Richard Glass, NCGA vice president of research and business development, expects many more.

“We encourage growers and interested parties to sign up early and take advantage of the savings,” said Glass. “The theme of this year’s conference is “Corn: Nature’s Sustainable Resource,” and CUTC will highlight the important role corn is playing in our world’s shift from a hydrocarbon-based to a carbohydrate-based economy and society. The conference will surely attract hundreds of growers, academia and industry representatives.”

CUTC has been expanded this year to include value-added corn products, dry grind and wet milling processes and new applications for dried distillers grains with solubles.

Topics include:
* Dry Grind Processing Technologies — Dr. Vijay Singh, University of Illinois
* Unit Operations — Dr. James Foster, Archers Daniels Midland Company
* Biotechnology: Its Benefits and Future — Dr. Frank Baressi, Grain Processing Corp.
* Value-added: New Products from Corn — Dr. Dennis Miller, Michigan State University
* Wet Milling Technologies — Dr. Tom Binder
* Nutritional Aspects of Foodstuffs from Corn Processing — Dr. Gary Allee, University of Missouri
* Processing Enzymes — Dr. Carl Miller, Syngenta
* Economics and Energy Issues Relating to Corn Processing — Fred Yoder, NCGA

“We have a wide-ranging agenda that features several hot topics in corn processing and utilization right now: dry grind and wet milling technologies; value-added opportunities; biotechnology; and dried distillers grains with solubles,” Glass said. “We’re looking forward to a successful conference.”

To receive the preferred CUTC Conference hotel room rate, register no later than April 30. Hotel reservations need to be made directly with the hotel, 214-651-1234 or online at www.dallasregency.hyatt.com. Please mention CUTC or NCGA to receive the conference rate.
