NCGA Accepting Photo Contest Entries, Adds New Category (3-22-06)
The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) is now accepting entries for this year’s Gallery of Corn Photo Contest, giving corn growers, their families and state and national association staff the opportunity capture corn in the field, life on the farm and scenic farm landscapes.
The 2006 contest has a new category, which replaces Miscellaneous from previous contests: Historic Farm Life. The other categories are: Planting, Growing, Harvesting, Livestock, Families on the Farm and Scenic. A $500 grand prize is awarded for best overall photo, in addition to first, second and third place prizes in each of the seven categories.
In 2005, more than 300 photos were submitted for the contest. NCGA Grower Services Action Team Chairman Dave Boettger hopes the contest receives even more entries this year.
“Our members and state staff from all over the country have really responded to our call to photograph agriculture in action,” said Boettger. “Over the past two years, NCGA has received quality photos of all farm-related activities. We’re looking forward to more growers participating in the contest in 2006.”
“With the planting season already taking place in some areas and right around the corner in most, NCGA urges members and their families to get out and snap their farm in action,” Boettger said.
The winning photos will be showcased at the 2007 Commodity Classic in Tampa, Fla., March 1-3. NCGA will also use photos from the contest for its publications, promotions and Web site.
