Top Notch Talent Highlights Commodity Classic Entertainment (1-23-06)
Attendees to the 10th Annual Commodity Classic, the annual convention and trade show of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) and the American Soybean Association, will enjoy a musical experience unlike any other, as three country music stars take the stage. The trade show and convention is March 2-4 in Anaheim, Calif.
Michael Martin Murphey, credited with placing Austin, Texas, on the music map, will open the Trade Show March 2 with an acoustic set. The audience will be able to connect with Murphey’s cowboy sound and songs about life on the Plains as a cattle rancher. Murphey will be available to sign autographs in the America’s Heartland booth on the trade show floor.
In addition to spreading a motivational message about citizens’ calls to duty, community and country during the March 3 General Session, Michael Peterson will perform a set of songs that praise rural values and roots. Be one of the first people to hear songs from his new album, “Down on the Farm,” which has yet to be released.
Toes will be tapping March 4 as Lorrie Morgan, four-time Country Female Vocalist of the Year, headlines the Evening of Entertainment. Morgan, a country star since 1989, released her 12th album, Show Me How, which is sure to rise to the top of the country charts, in 2005. She has had eight videos reach the top of the CMT charts and has appeared several times at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn.
“We’re thrilled to have these huge country stars take the stage at this year’s Commodity Classic,” said NCGA President Gerald Tumbleson. “The other entertainment will be impressive as well, with Mike Super performing his unique blend of magic. On a personal note, I am very excited that my sons will be performing at this year’s event. The 2006 Commodity Classic Committee deserves praise for their hard work in securing top talent.”
Tumbleson’s three sons, Thad, Trace and Trent, will perform the National Anthem before the NCGA Awards Banquet March 3. Illusionist Mike Super will also wow the audience that night with an interactive magic show.
Commodity Classic brings growers together with key decision-makers in the agricultural industry and farmer leaders from around the country. Through powerful educational sessions, growers will learn from respected industry leaders about how to improve farm efficiency and profitability.
