NCGA’s CUTC to Highlight New Corn Technologies (1-20-06)
Topics and chairmen have been finalized for the 2006 Corn Utilization Technology Conference (CUTC) which has been expanded this year to include value-added corn products, dry grind and wet milling processes and new applications for dried distillers grains with solubles. The chairmen of each respective section have selected speakers that will focus on the state of the art and progress of each of their sessions. The premier technology conference on corn products, hosted by the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) every other year, will be held in Dallas, June 5-7.
“The speakers for this year’s event represent a cross section of industry, academia and growers,” said Dr. Richard Glass, NCGA vice president of research and business development. “All of their topics are sure to highlight important issues in corn technology and move the technologies forward.”
Topics include:
- Dry Grind Processing Technologies — Dr. Vijay Singh, University of Illinois
- Unit Operations — Dr. Tom Binder, Archers Daniels Midland Company
- Biotechnology: Its Benefits and Future — Dr. Frank Baressi, Grain Processing Corp.
- Value-added: New Products from Corn — Dr. Dennis Miller, Michigan State University
- Wet Milling Technologies — Dr. Tom Binder
- Nutritional Aspects of Foodstuffs from Corn Processing — Dr. Gary Allee, University of Missouri
- Processing Enzymes — Dr. Carl Miller, Syngenta
- Economics and Energy Issues Relating to Corn Processing — Fred Yoder, NCGA
“NCGA is excited that this year’s CUTC has been expanded to include other corn technologies,” said Clark Gerstacker, a member of the CUTC planning committee and chairman of NCGA’s Research and Business Development Action Team. “Recent research has developed numerous new uses for corn, and we think including those uses as topics as on this year’s CUTC agenda will greatly enhance the conference.”
People interested in attending the conference can visit www.corntechconf.org and click on the “Register” link on the left side of the Web page. The early registration deadline is March 31.
The Web site also contains a summary of the event and a schedule of conference presentations and speakers.
