Capture Agriculture in NCGA’s Gallery of Corn Photo Contest (8-15-06)
Point, click and shoot your way into the 2006 National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) Gallery of Corn Photo Contest, aimed at capturing the essence of corn farming in the Heartland.
As August winds down and harvest begins, NCGA encourages corn growers, families, and affiliated state and national staff to capture the beauty of the crop.
“NCGA’s photo contest is aimed at generating a greater awareness and appreciation of this country’s rich agricultural heritage through photo images,” said David Boettger, NCGA Grower Services Action Team chairman. “We encourage everyone to capture their heartland, their vision of agriculture – past, present and future.”
Boettger, who noted that NCGA will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year, said it is important to look to agriculture’s past as corn growers work to ensure a vibrant future. This year the contest includes a category for historical photos.
“Agriculture and the corn industry has seen enormous transformation in the past 50 years and what better way than to celebrate it in pictures,” Boettger said. “This year we have added a new category that will showcase historic farm life. It is truly a way to show younger generation farmers how far we have come.”
In addition to agriculture’s heritage being showcased this year, shutterbugs can shoot for categories including planting, growing, harvesting, livestock, family life and scenic.
Winning photos will be showcased at the 2007 Commodity Classic in Tampa, Fla., March 1–3. NCGA and its affiliated state organizations will use photos from the contest for publications and promotions.
