NCGA
Sets Corn Utilization Conference for June 2006 (10-6-05)
Planning
is under way for the 2006 Corn Utilization and Technology Conference
(CUTC), June 5-7 in Dallas, Texas. Hosted by the National Corn Growers
Association (NCGA), the upcoming conference reflects the growing
importance of corn as a keystone to a carbohydrate-based economy
through the conference theme Corn: Nature’s Sustainable
Resource.
“NCGA, working closely with the U.S. Grains Council (USGC),
is expanding the conference to include learning sessions on wet milling
and dry grind technologies, advances in biotechnology, value-added
products from corn and new uses for distillers dry grains (DDGS),” said
NCGA Research and Business Development Chairman Clark Gerstacker.
“Through our association with the grains
council, NCGA is reaching out to international audiences and expanding
the conference by providing learning sessions on corn utilization
technologies that appeal to researchers, ethanol producers and
livestock interests, government regulators and students.”
Ken Hobbie, USGC president and CEO, said, “The U.S. Grains
Council is excited to be a part of this important event. In the past,
the Council has hosted conferences for international buyers with
a special emphasis on value-enhanced grain. We view CUTC as a chance
to showcase our continued efforts and commitment toward promoting
value-enhanced grains to our international customers, plus it’s
a great opportunity to work with our sister organization, NCGA.”
Sessions will be held on:
• Dry Grind Processing Technologies (2
sessions)
• Unit Operations
• Biotechnology: It’s Benefits and Future
• Value Added: New Products from Corn (2 sessions)
• Wet Milling Technologies
• Nutritional Aspects of Foodstuffs from Corn Processing
• Processing Enzymes
• Economics and Energy Issues Relating to Corn Processing
