NCGA
President, Staff Participate in Farm Broadcasters, Issues Forum
(5-2-05)
National Corn
Growers Association (NCGA) President Leon Corzine along with the
Washington, D.C., staff tackled questions Sunday from more than
36 farm broadcasters on a NCGA’s key legislative issues, including
energy, locks modernization, the agriculture budget and the Central
American-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR) at the
National Association of Farm Broadcasters’ (NAFB) annual issues
forum” in Washington.
Broadcasters from New York to North Dakota sought answers and insight
on legislative action, such as House and Senate floor votes on the
comprehensive energy bill, the Water Resources Development Act and
CAFTA-DR, in addition to how last week’s passage of the budget
reconciliation bill will impact agriculture.
“The issues forum is a great event where we can speak one
on one with the farm broadcasters,” Corzine said. “Farm
broadcasters are integral to communicating NCGA’s messages
and the importance of our issues to our members. Farm broadcasters
are an extremely important tool in helping us get the word out to
our grassroots, which is what really gets the political will that
is needed to push these issues over the goal line.”
