Corn Grower Associations Tackle Key Issues During Hill Visits (03-10-05)
The 109th congressional
session is well under way, and corn growers from across the country
are frequenting the nation’s capitol to discuss the industry’s
key legislative issues with lawmakers.
This week, members of
the Nebraska Corn Growers Association and the Corn Producers Association
of Texas took to Capitol Hill to promote the priorities of their
state associations and NCGA.
“Growers must maintain
an influential voice in local, state and national policy decisions,”
Texas grower Steve Yoder said. “That’s why we come to
Washington. We need to ensure our voices are heard on issues that
affect agriculture and our livelihood.”
The groups met with top decision makers on the Hill, discussing
the agriculture budget and its impact on family farms, the need
for a comprehensive energy bill with the Renewable Fuels Standard
and other issues.
