AgriTalk
Ethanol Pump Tour Visits Minnesota Today (6-16-05)
The AgriTalk
Pump Tour, sponsored in part by the National Corn Growers Association,
continues its journey around the Corn Belt, as AgriTalk host Mike
Adams visits the Cenex Co-Op in Hutchinson, Minn., this morning.
Adams will be broadcasting live from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The Cenex Co-Op will
be celebrating its grand opening by selling E85 for 85 cents from
10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The station will sell E-85 during the promotion,
during which McCleod County corn growers and the Minnesota E85 Team
will discuss the benefits of ethanol fuel to consumers. The Minnesota
Corn Growers Association’s (MCGA) E85 Chevrolet Avalanche
will be on display as well.
Gov. Tim Pawlently will
visit the Cenex Co-Op from 10:15 to 11:15. He is expected to speak
with Adams on AgriTalk at 10:30.
NCGA Research and Business
Development Action Team member Ron Obermoller noted that ethanol
has made a huge impact on Minnesota.
“In Minnesota,
we don’t call it a gas station. We call it a fueling station,”
said Obermoller, a former MCGA president. “We have about 150
(E85) stations in the state. We started with 100 at the beginning
of the year and we expect to hit 200 by the end of the year.”
The pump tour is aimed
at bolstering public awareness around corn-based ethanol and its
use as a domestic, renewable-energy resource. Now in its fourth
year, the tour was started by Adams as a way to promote use of the
corn-based renewable fuel.
AgriTalk is broadcast
live to 72 stations across the country. It can be heard locally
on KDUZ 1260 AM in Hutchinson.
