Illinois Next Stop on NCGA-sponsored AgriTalk Ethanol Pump Tour (6-9-06)

As gas prices continue to fluctuate across the country, residents of Monmouth, Ill., should see some relief June 10 as the AgriTalk Ethanol Pump Tour, sponsored by the National Corn Growers Association, rolls into town and offers discounted fuel with full service.

Area farmers and volunteers from the NCGA, the Illinois Corn Growers Association (ICGA), Monsanto, General Motors and AgriTalk radio are teaming up as part of the pump tour. The effort is aimed at bolstering public awareness around corn-based ethanol and its use as a domestic, renewable-energy resource.

As part of the promotion, representatives from ICGA, Monsanto and AgriTalk will pump discounted gas and wash windshields for motorists who choose ethanol fuel tomorrow at the Riverland FS Fuel 24 station in Monmouth between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. as part of the AgriTalk Ethanol Pump Tour.

The ethanol pump tour, now in its fourth year, was started by AgriTalk host Mike Adams as a way to promote use of the corn-based renewable fuel.

“There has been no more important time to support domestic, renewable fuels such as ethanol than right now as we face high gasoline prices due to limited supplies of foreign oil,” Adams said. “Ethanol, in a 10 percent blend, can be burned in any vehicle, burns cleaner, supports our farmers and reduces our dependence on foreign energy. It’s a win-win-win for America.”

AgriTalk will broadcast live from Riverland FS Fuel 24 station from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. to 72 stations across the country. It can be heard locally on WRAM 1330 AM in Monmouth.

The AgriTalk Ethanol Pump Tour is made possible through a coalition of farmer organizations, ag industry and representatives of the automotive industry.

The amount of the ethanol-blended fuel discount will be announced on WRAM 1330 AM in Monmouth tomorrow morning.
