of the growers seeking election to the National Corn Growers Association
(NCGA) Corn Board for the 2005-2006 term. Elections will be held
at the Corn Congress session in Washington, D.C., July 13 - 14.
NCGA’s nominating committee announced a slate of nine candidates

Darrin and his
family grow irrigated and dry-land corn and soybeans and are actively
involved with local, state and national organizations and government.
Darrin’s busy schedule includes chairing the NCGA Biotechnology
Working Group and chairing the South Dakota Corn Growers Association.
Darrin has long participated in NCGA committees and action teams,
including the Production and Stewardship Action Team. He says the
experience and skill sets he has gained from his involvement in
the state and national associations and his work as chairman of
the Great Plains Ethanol Plant will help him as a Corn Board member.
“Promoting new ideas and developing them into workable programs
for all corn growers is a key point to being an active board member
in this organization,” said Ihnen. “It is important
to maintain our key issues we were founded on, but to look at new
ways to promote our industry and new uses for our product is vital.”
