Note: Over the next several weeks, NCGA will feature the profiles
of the growers seeking election to the National Corn Growers Association
(NCGA) Corn Board for the 2005-2006 term. Elections will be held
at the Corn Congress session in Washington, D.C., July 13 - 14.
NCGA’s
nominating committee announced a slate of nine candidates for Corn
Board elections. Successful candidates will take their seats on
the board beginning Oct. 1. Today's profile is of Daryl Haack, chairman
of the Ethanol Committee and a grower from Primghar, Iowa.
Daryl
Haack Will Highlight Partnerships, Ethanol and the Checkoff if elected
to NCGA Corn Board (6-2-05)
Daryl and his
family have farmed zone-till corn and no-till soybeans in Iowa for
the past 35 years in addition to being heavily involved in the local
farm bureau and Iowa checkoff board.
Daryl has participated
in a variety of NCGA and industry organizations including being
active in the local and national ethanol development along with
working on growing markets for distiller’s dried grains (DDGs).
His experience includes position within the Iowa Corn Promotion
Board, working to expand and enhancing relationship between NCGA
and the Iowa legislators.
Among the many
skills that Daryl has acquired over the years, he believes that
he can provide more insight as to the ethanol side of the corn industry
since he has been working on the issue over the past eight years.
“I can provide a lot of insight regarding the key issue of
ethanol to the organization and to the board,” said Haack.
“Along with that I’d like to bring the issue of the
checkoff more to the forefront in the organization and help in making
it even more successful. The checkoff side of things is vital to
our industry and organization for funding of programs that educate
this country on all the benefits of corn and its co-products.”
