NCGA
Members Discuss Future Policy and Priorities (01-14-05)
Corn growers from all
of National Corn Growers Association’s (NCGA) affiliated states
gathered in St. Louis Thursday and Friday for the annual Priority
& Policy Conference. The results of the work conducted during
the two-day conference will influence NCGA’s programs and
direction for the next two years.
On Thursday, state association
delegates had the opportunity to clarify the future priorities of
their state organizations, determine priorities for NCGA and comment
on NCGA’s Strategic Plan. Delegates broke into subcommittees
that will provide the grassroots guidance to Corn Congress on resolutions
put forth for policy changes. The subcommittees reviewed NCGA action
team priorities for the coming year.
Growers reviewed proposed
policy resolutions Friday morning and got an update on Commodity
Classic from Colordao grower Scott Wall, co-chair of the Commodity
Classic Grower Committee.
In February, the NCGA
delegate body will vote on proposed policy changes at Corn Congress
in Austin, Texas.
