NCGA
Congratulates Chuck Conner on Ag Appointment (4-29-05)
The National
Corn Growers Association (NCGA) congratulates Charles (Chuck) Conner
on his Senate confirmation yesterday as Deputy Secretary of Agriculture.
"We applaud the Senate for confirming Chuck Conner as Deputy
Secretary of Agriculture. It is important this significant position
is held by someone with the qualifications to work on behalf of
American agriculture. Chuck Conner has those qualifications,”
said Jon Doggett, NCGA vice president of public policy.
Conner is stepping into the position formerly held by Jim Moseley.
“We have enjoyed working with former Deputy Secretary Jim
Moseley and wish him all the best for the future,” Doggett
said. “He has been a strong leader at the department for a
long time and he leaves a legacy of service and integrity.”
Prior to his confirmation, Conner served as Special Assistant to
the President for Agricultural Trade & Food Assistance during
President George W. Bush’s first term. “Chuck Conner
has always been a strong and positive voice for all of agriculture
and especially for this nation’s corn growers,” Doggett
added. “NCGA has enjoyed a long friendship with him when he
was at the White House and we look forward to building on that relationship
as he assumes his duties at USDA.”
