Names Slater to Public Policy Director Position (5-17-04)
The National
Corn Growers Association (NCGA) today announced Samantha Slater
has joined the organization as director
of public policy.
She will be responsible for legislative and regulatory affairs
concerning ethanol, the Clean Air Act, climate change, energy and
economic analysis.
“We’re very excited to have Samantha join our staff,” said
Jon Doggett, NCGA vice president of public policy. “Samantha
brings diversified experience and remarkable passion to the position.
Her talents will be instrumental in NCGA’s mission to promote
the ethanol industry and comprehensive energy legislation that
includes a Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS).”
In seven years with the Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA),
Slater held several important policy positions. She began as a
policy and research associate and gradually worked her way to manager
of state and regional affairs. Among her many duties at EPSA, Slater
monitored all state regulatory and legislative activity related
to the power industry, preparing comments and testimony and strategic
planning for the legislative agenda.
“I am thrilled by this new challenge,” Slater said. “I
have spent my professional career working in state and regional
policy affairs; I look forward to serving the members of NCGA in
pursuit of the association’s energy and ethanol goals and
objectives.”
Slater has
a bachelor’s degree in international
studies from the American University in Washington, D.C.
