NCGA
Photo Contest Under Way (7-2-04)
The National
Corn Growers Association (NCGA) is looking for the best photos
of America's top crop in its "Gallery of Corn" Photo
Contest.
Mark Garber, chairman of NCGA's Growers Services Action Team,
says the contest is already under way and is open to NCGA members
and their families.
“We thought ‘let’s have a little fun,’” Garber
said. “Let’s have a photo contest that's open to all
the members of the National Corn Growers Association, the state
associations and the checkoff boards."
According to Garber, NCGA is already accepting photos and entries
must be postmarked no later than Nov. 1. Garber says interested
parties can get information from their state association office
or download the information at http://ncga.com/public_policy/PDF/2004PhotoContest.pdf.
Garber encourages people to submit old and new photos in the categories
that include planting, growing, harvesting, families on the farm,
livestock, scenic and miscellaneous.
“We encourage people to take pictures in these categories
and if they already have a taken a picture, they are free to submit
it,” said Garber, adding that entrants can submit two photos
per category.
And Garber says the grand prize winner in each category won't
be the only one to take home some cash. The top three photos in
each category will also receive a cash prize. What's more, Garber
says the winners will have their photos displayed at a major NCGA
event in 2005.
“The winning photos will be displayed at the NCGA Corn Congress
event in Austin, Texas, next February,” he said.
So get those cameras ready and start snapping. Winners will be
announced in December.
