NCGA Members Discuss Corn
Grower Issues at Action Team, Committee Meetings (12-03-04)
Nearly 100 corn producers
from across the country converged in St. Louis this week for
the National Corn Growers Association’s
(NCGA) Action Team and Committee meetings.
NCGA’s action
teams and committees are grower-led groups that develop the programs
and initiatives to be implemented on
behalf of the 300,000 farmers who contribute to the corn checkoff.
The grower groups – which include the Ethanol Committee,
Research and Business Development Action Team, Biotechnology Working
Group, Production and Stewardship Action Team, Grower Services
Action Team, Public Policy Action Team and Joint Trade Policy A-Team – reviewed
progress on current initiatives and laid the groundwork for future
programs.
Aside from normal action
team and committee business, growers heard an update from NCGA’s
Future Structure of Agriculture Task Force II (FSATF) and discussed
future opportunities and challenges
facing rural America. The FSATF is finalizing a report that identifies
policy changes and investment opportunities that hold the greatest
potential to move farmers further into the value chain.
