Fitchhorn Running for NCGA Corn Board Seat to Better Serve Membership
(6-18-03)
Editor's Note: Over the
next three weeks, we will feature the profiles of the growers seeking
election to the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) Corn Board
for the 2003-2004 term. Elections will be held at the Corn Congress
session in Washington, D.C., July 14-16. Today's profile is of Ron
Fitchhorn, vice chairman of the Production and Stewardship Action
Team and a grower from McLean, Ill.
NCGA and Syngenta leadership
training, and U.S. Grains Council and Illinois Department of Agriculture
international trade missions have been valuable experiences that Ron
Fitchhorn will leverage as a Corn Board member. Ron is also involved
in many local boards and advisory committees.
Ron would like to serve
on the Corn Board because he believes NCGA is becoming increasingly
important to the future of corn producers in the nation. The organization's
policy work affects the profitability of his farm and those of his
neighbors. He says he would like to help build better communities
for a stronger corn industry, and feels that his background and experience
would be useful in making a contribution to NCGA and the corn industry.
