Livestock Mgr. Attends MCR&PC Meeting (9-5-01)
National Corn Growers
Association (NCGA) Livestock Programs and Information Manager Tracy
Snider met with the Minnesota Corn Research & Promotion Council
last week to discuss the current status and potential of the livestock
industry and what that means to the nation's corn growers.
Attending the meeting
were Minnesota corn growers Rob Meyer, Ron Obermoller, Gerald Tumbleson,
Al Cotter, Gene Fynboh, Roger Moore, Gayle Bergstrom, Audrey Swanson
and Jerry Larson. Also at the meeting were Kelly Davis of the Chippewa
Valley Ethanol and Minnesota Corn Growers Association staff member Yvonne
Simon.
Snider presented
material regarding livestock production and trends from the last three
years on livestock numbers. "My presentation was used as an open
forum for discussion among the team as to where Minnesota wants to go
with the livestock program and what roles MCRPC and NCGA livestock program
will fill," said Snider.
Snider said MCRPC
is taking an active role in its commitment to retaining livestock in
Minnesota and servicing that industry. MCRPC will sponsor a portion
of the Minnesota Nutrition Conference, as the Minnesota Corn Growers
Association Technical Symposium Sept. 11-12 in Bloomington, Minn.
"This symposium
will tackle issues of great importance to the livestock industry,"
said Snider, "such as environmental regulations, nutritive value
and safety, as well as tie in important information on DDGS and their
role in livestock and poultry feed rations."
