Faulkner
Appointed to New Post by DOE Secretary (7-13-01)
Secretary of Energy
Spencer Abraham has named Doug Faulkner as principal deputy assistant
secretary for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
Faulkner will report directly to Assistant Secretary of Energy Dave
Garman in areas of conservation as well as finding alternative sources
of energy to compliment traditional ones.
Faulkner has long
been a friend of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA), having
worked with NCGA since 1996. He has been instrumental in DOE's contributions
to many programs such as AgVision and has played a vital role in the
partnership shared by NCGA and DOE.
NCGA Corn Action
Team member and Lawler, Iowa, farmer Bob Boeding has worked with Faulkner
and said Abraham made the right decision to promote him. "I am
very encouraged to hear of Doug Faulkner's promotion at the Department
of Energy. Doug's previous work at the Office of Industrial Technology
coupled with his new position will help the corn farmer and the nation
in our unfolding renewable energy future."
Faulkner, with the
Office of Industrial Technology, and NCGA participated in a ground-breaking
ceremony last summer in Blair, Neb., for a new Cargill Dow manufacturing
facility. The new facility will make plastics and natural-synthetic
fibers from corn.
"I am pleased
and excited about having Doug on our team to advance the President's
National Energy Policy," said Secretary Abraham. "His expertise
in energy efficiency will be an asset in helping us solve America's
energy crisis."
NCGA is extremely
proud to congratulate Faulkner on his promotion and look forward to
working with him in his new capacity.
