NCGA's
Best and Brightest To Attend Leadership Training (12-26-01)
The
current and future leaders of the National Corn Growers Association
(NCGA) will be attending a leadership training conference in Washington,
D.C., Jan. 28-31. The conference, sponsored by Syngenta Crop Protection,
provides training to growers who are currently state association presidents
and those who are just beginning service on a state association board.
The
training is actually the second meeting of a two-part training cycle.
The first phase took place in Greensboro, N.C., in August. The Washington,
D.C., training will provide leaders with information on issues affecting
agriculture on a national basis. It will also provide an opportunity
for leaders to go to Capitol Hill and meet with their elected officials.
NCGA
Membership Services Manager Byron Keelin said the training in D.C. will
be very beneficial to the participants. "In that session, grower
leaders will be presented with information about issues facing them
on a national level. After the program, growers will be encouraged to
meet with their elected officials and demonstrate their new skills."
Keelin
went on to say the quality of individuals attending this program has
been impressive. "It's encouraging to see the growers absorb the
training and then put it to use. With meetings like these the future
looks bright for the NCGA and its affiliated associations," he
said. "It makes you realize people want to get involved with their
community and take and active role in their organization and the business
of agriculture. I think the future of NCGA is in good hands."
