NCGA Sends Message to Modernize Waterways (6-20-01)
NCGA took the opportunity
to convey its messages on waterways transportation issues during yesterday's
Marine Transportation System (MTS) Industry Fair on the Mall in Washington,
DC. NCGA's Director of Public Policy Keira Franz (left) and Deanna Firth
of North American Export Grain Association provided public outreach
information to visitors from federal agencies and congressional offices
as well as to the general public.
"This event
was a good opportunity for NCGA to get the word out on how important
modernized waterways are to the transportation of corn," Franz
noted. The MTS is a partnership among 17 federal agencies, plus industry,
stakeholders and state/local government that promotes the competitiveness,
safety, efficiency, security and environmental soundness of the U.S.
Marine Transportation System.
