NCGA President Lee Klein congratulates Leslie Roach of Wheatland, N.D., NCGA's overall top production recruiter of the year.Roach's recruitment performance in recent years has significantly bolstered the total acres represented by the North Dakota Corn Growers Assocation. Leslie also is the Warrior Division Winner in the NCGA-Syngenta recruiter program, with 928 total points accumulated from an outstanding job of recruiting 252 members. As the top production recruiter, Leslie won up to $2,500 toward expenses for him and his wife, Audrey, to attend Commodity Classic. He also won a $500 Sears gift card.

Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) is flanked by Iowa corn growers at Commodity Classic. NCGA honored Harkin with its annual President's Award for his support of ethanol.

NCGA Chairman Lynn Jensen accepts a $50,000
check from Bayer's Scott Welge, corn market manager, for NCGA's ethanol marketing program. The purpose of the program is to increase ethanol demand and awareness nationwide.

Delegates get down to NCGA business during a Corn Congress session at Commodity Classic.

Chris Brescia, left, of Marc 2000, and Iowa corn growers Tim Burrack, center, and Bill Horan participate in a General Session panel discussion about the need for upgrading locks and dams on the upper Mississippi and Illinois rivers. Brescia discussed domestic infrastructure needs, while Burrack and Horan shared their experiences on a recent trip to Brazil where they witnessed millions of dollars being pumped into that country's river infrastructure, posing an increased threat to the United States' competitive edge worldwide.

Growers and staff participated in an NCGA Presidential Leadership Program, sponsored by Syngenta, at Commodity Classic. The goal of the program was to help grower leaders and future leaders to be more effective for their state
and national organization.

NCGA President Lee Klein addresses the media at a joint press conference with the American Soybean Association (ASA). Klein discussed NCGA's five key issues for 2001: biotechnology, ethanol, research and business development, river transportation and the 2001 Farm Bill.
