NCGA Trade School to Focus on Trade’s Impact on Agriculture
The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) will host two Trade School events in 2006 that will give growers an opportunity to learn the importance of trade to the agriculture sector and trade’s impact on farm policy. (More On This Story)

NCGA Welcomes RFS Default Standard Issued by EPA
The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) today welcomed the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) announcement of its default renewable fuels standard (RFS) rule, which will promote the increased use of home grown fuels and their numerous environmental benefits. The rule was authorized by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, signed into law by President George W. Bush last summer. (More On This Story)

NCGA Reminds Growers of Jan. 19 Early Registration Deadline for 2006 Commodity Classic
The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) urges corn growers to take advantage of the Jan. 19 early registration deadline for the 2006 Commodity Classic in Anaheim, Calif, March 2-4. Grower members who register by Jan. 19 will save $50. (More On This Story)

The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) members looking to improve their membership development skills and learn the latest trends from experts are invited to attend the fifth annual NCGA Membership Symposium Feb. 6-8, 2006, in Tampa, Fla. (More On This Story)

NCGA Members Invited to Take Part in GPS Survey
National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) members are invited to take part in a survey that would result in technology that could make farmers’ operations more efficient through global positioning systems (GPS). (More On This Story)

News from State Associations

Minnesota: As you approach a highway exit in Minnesota and see the blue service sign that has the familiar Pizza Hut logo or a sign for a Super 8 Motel, you may soon see Holiday, Cenex, KwikTrip and other fuel retailers’ logos along with the phrase ‘E85 fuel.’ The new signs, produced by Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), will cost businesses approximately $35. MnDOT will also put up signs that indicate the direction and distance to the next E85 fueling site.

South Dakota: On Jan. 7, 2006, the South Dakota Corn Growers Association (SDCGA) celebrates its 20th Anniversary during the organization’s Annual Meeting at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Featured in the evening will be keynote speaker, Stephen L. Johnson, administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the evening entertainment will be by country music legends BlackHawk. Johnson will highlight the EPA’s role in implementing the 2006 Renewable Fuel Standard, along with his administration’s priorities. He will also touch on Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) during his address. Tickets for the Annual Meeting are $25 for members of the SDCGA or $50 for non-members. Illinois: The Illinois Corn & Soybean Classic will hold six day-long conferences of presentations and panels, with a multidisciplinary research-based approach to resolving critical issues in crop production and protection beginning Jan. 10. The dates are:
January 10: Bloomington (Interstate Center)
January 11: Malta (Kishwaukee College)
January 12: Moline (The Mark/Quad Cities)
January 17: Springfield (CrownePlaza)
January 18: Mt.Vernon (Holiday Inn)
January 19: Collinsville (Holiday Inn)
