Trials to Begin at Texas Tech University
November 7 marks
the beginning of the Distillers Grains Trial at Texas Tech University
in Lubbock, Texas under the supervision of Dr. Mike Galyean. Wet distillers
grains have been transported from the Abengoa, Bioenergy plant in York,
Neb., for this trial. Abengoa Bioenergy supplied the distillers grains
to this project, and NCGA has partnered with them on the transportation
costs for the project.(More

Represented at Symposium on Alternative Feeds for Livestock, Poultry
NCGA was represented
this week at the Third National Symposium on Alternative Feeds for Livestock
and Poultry in Kansas City, MO., where there was a strong focus on byproducts
for bio-fuels processing, specifically distillers dried grains with
solubles (DDGS). (More

Looks to ProExporter Network for Sense of Anticipated Harvest Effects
on Ethanol Industry
With USDA projecting
a 10.2 billion corn crop in its October crop report, NCGA is looking
to experts like ProExporter Network (PRX) for an idea of how such a
crop would affect the growing ethanol industry in the United States..

NCGA
Involved in Efforts to Resolve U.S.-Mexican Sweetener Dispute
Efforts to resolve
the long-standing sweetener trade dispute with Mexico continue on several
fronts, notes NCGA. Of note are letters sent last week to U.S. Trade
Representative Robert Zoellick and Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Ernesto
Derbez and a statement issued by a Combined Sweetener Task Force.
The dispute began
in January 2002 when Mexico imposed a 20 percent tax on all soft drinks
containing high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), which has shut down U.S.
exports for nearly two years. (More
