NCGA’s Yoder Tells Senate That EU Moratorium is based on Misinformation and Protectionism
“It is clear that the EU restrictions have to do with political and regulatory incompetence, misinformation and old-fashioned protectionism rather than scientific uncertainty,” said NCGA President Fred Yoder Tuesday while testifying before Congress on the European Union (EU) moratorium on biotechnology. NCGA Encouraged by Japanese Incorporation of DDGS
NCGA is encouraged by the news Japanese feed regulations may soon incorporate distillers dried grain with solubles (DDGS), thanks to the U.S. Grains Council. The Council’s goal is to convince Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture Forestry & Fisheries (MAFF) to revise the official nutritional composition standard to reflect the increased values of the new style DDGS.

Presentations on the topic have been given to the Japan Science Feed Association (JSFA), Japan Feed Manufacturers Association (JFMA), National Federation of Dairy Cooperative Association (ZENRAKUREN) and other livestock researchers and dairy farmers.

NCGA Pleased to See South Africa’s Access to U.S. Biotech Corn
NCGA is pleased to see strides are being taken to keep U.S. corn biotech events in South Africa current. The South African Animal Feed Manufacturers Association (AFMA), which has been instrumental in updating the registration of events and thus ensures U.S. yellow corn has continued access to this market, is now looking to the U.S. Grains Council for help.

It is a very weather dependent market where local production can vary from 3-11 million tons annually. In a bad crop year, such as 1991, the country imported 4 million tons (157 million bushels) of corn.
