A series of nine Corn after Corn Management Seminars will be held across the central Corn Belt the week of Jan. 22. For information on the meeting locations, complete agenda, and reservations go to www.agrigold.com

Iowa: In 2006 approximately 846 million bushels of Iowa corn was delivered to in-state processors, while an estimated 790 million bushels or 37 percent of Iowa’s crop left the state. Ethanol production has significantly increased in Iowa. With that expansion has come an increase in the ethanol co-product called dried distillers grains (DDG). Movement of this coproduct also increases the need for transportation on Iowa roadways and rivers. “Transportation of corn in Iowa is critical to the market. Whether by road, rail, or river, the system needs to be efficient, both in time and money. Iowa Corn pays close attention to our in-state road system and railroad infrastructure,” says Tim Burrack, chair of the Iowa Corn Growers Association Exports and Grain Trade Committee. “The capacity to produce more corn is there, we just need to be certain the systems to transport it are there.”
