NCGA TAKES PART IN USFRA MEETING AND FOOD DIALOGUES

Nov. 16:  Past and present grower leaders of the National Corn Growers Association took part in the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance’s third Food Dialogues town hall event, held this week in New York City. NCGA was a founding affiliate of USFRA, with leadership actively involved in the broad movement to restore consumer confidence in today’s agriculture.

 

“I’m very excited to be part of USFRA,” said NCGA Corn Board member Mike Geske, a Missouri corn farmer who became an at-large member of the USFRA board’s executive committee. “The farmers and ranchers alliance has taken great strides in reaching out to important audiences and telling the story of our farmers’ commitment to continuous improvement in what we do to help provide healthy choices for consumers.”

 

On the USFRA board, Geske took the place of NCGA Past President Bart Schott of North Dakota, who served as USFRA Vice Chair this past year. Schott was actively engaged in the organization since its inception, along with NCGA CEO Rick Tolman, who leads the USFRA CEO Advisory Board.

 

“It was a privilege to serve our nation’s many farmers and ranchers in this effort,” Schott said. “We made great headway in building a climate of dialogue and conversation about what really matters to people, and earning the respect of those with whom we worked.”

 

The Food Dialogues event in New York included panels on two hot issues in farming – antibiotic use in raising livestock and the role of biotechnology in today’s agriculture. For more information on USFRA and Food Dialogues, including videos of the panel sessions, click here.
