Key Issues

Ethanol
NCGA serves as a leading voice for ethanol on Capitol Hill and across the country. In addition to influencing energy policy, NCGA continues to educate consumers about the benefits of using ethanol. There’s no question ethanol is here to stay. And as the industry continues to grow, NCGA will continue to enhance and expand opportunities for corn growers within this invaluable market.

Farm Policy
Agriculture policy in the United States has evolved over the years to address an expanding range of needs and concerns in the areas of nutrition, conservation, rural economic development, renewable energy, food safety, research, credit and risk management programs for various types of farm operations.

Biotechnology
The development of biotechnology offers great promise for corn growers through improved efficiencies and potential profits when managed wisely and with regulatory oversight based on sound science.

Production Stewardship
For growers, meeting all needs for corn is best fulfilled through resource stewardship.

Livestock
Livestock touches all of NCGA’s key issues, and there are many crossover areas among action teams and working groups. Ensuring a market for corn, as well as processed corn and co-products remains as the main challenge for the livestock program. NCGA often works on issues such as nutrient composition, co-product utilization, environmental regulations, land rights, and trade issues. These are areas where NCGA can be involved and truly benefit the nation’s livestock production. On other issues, such as herd health issues, and other factors create disturbances in the production and consumption of meat products NCGA supports its sister organizations through communications and other supporting roles.
