Share the Facts on the 2007 Farm Bill

Farm bill legislation is enacted every five years, setting vital policies for rural development, conservation and the environment, and virtually every other facet of life in agriculture. That is why it is essential that growers make their voices heard in the debate over the 2007 farm bill.
The large number of nutritional and other non-agricultural programs included in the Farm Bill is slowly diminishing growers’ input into this vital piece of legislation. This trend makes it even more important that producers contact their members of Congress and ensure that elected officials from rural and agricultural districts speak with one voice to the benefit of growers.
The current status of the Farm Bill is in flux. The House has passed a version, which the White House has threatened to veto. Competing versions await debate and passage in the Senate.
