Gary Porter, of Mercer, Mo., serves as a member of the Corn Board of the National Corn Growers Association, a farmer-led trade association with offices in St. Louis and Washington.
Porter is a fifth-generation farmer raising corn, soybeans, and Angus cattle alongside his three sons, nephew and brother. In his efforts, Porter keeps the goal of preserving and improving his family’s farm for future generations front and center. Along with his family, he also owns and manages a local fuel station offering E15 and other higher ethanol blends.
On the national level, Porter serves on NCGA’s Finance and Governance Committees. He also serves the U.S Grains Council as team lead for its Western Hemisphere Action Team. Prior to joining the Corn Board, he served on NCGA’s Market Access Action Team.
On the state level, Porter is a past president of the Missouri Corn Growers Association and past chairman of the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council. He also serves as president of the Mercer County Public Water Supply District.
