Biotech crops may be the most scrutinized products that consumers can purchase- their safety
is reviewed by three U.S. Government agencies, the EPA, USDA and FDA.
Studies on biotech products focus on their safety as food and feed and their safety in the
environment.
All this analysis has paid off, biotechnology has now been in use for 12 years and has been planted on over one billion acres and there has not been a single health problem that has resulted from its use or consumption.
According to the American Dietetic Association "It is the position of the American Dietetic
Association that agricultural and food biotechnology techniques can enhance the quality, safety,
nutritional value, and variety of food available for human consumption and increase the efficiency of
food production, food processing, food distribution, and environmental and waste management.
The ADA encourages the government, food manufacturers, food commodity groups, and qualified
food and nutrition professionals to work together to inform consumers about this new technology
and encourage availability of these products in the marketplace."

advice and guidance to make healthy eating choices.
